Glenn E. Merkel, age 82, of Fleetwood, passed away Tuesday February 12, 2013 at Hearthstone at Maidencreek. He was born in Fleetwood on November 2, 1930 the son of the late Walter P. Merkel and Mae K. (Himmelreich) Merkel. Glenn was a U S Navy veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed by East Penn Manfacturing for 26 years retiring in 1995. He loved nature and the outdoors and was a fan of NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Survived by his three children Dianne G. (Merkel) wife of Leonard Christ of Fleetwood; Linda M. Merkel of Auburn and son, Glenn W. Merkel of Las Vegas. Other survivors include two grandchildren Marlo A. Moyer and Matthew G. Merkel. One great grandson Brayden S. Moyer. Glenn was preceded in death by his sister Betty (Merkel ) Burkert. Services will be private with burial in St. Paul’s Union Cemetery, Fleetwood.
