Obituary

Arlene K. Zimmerman, 76, was born to Daniel and Esther Martin on June 26, 1944 in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2020. She grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and worked at a sewing factory until her marriage.

Mom married Samuel S. Zimmerman on March 2, 1963. Their home was blessed with 7 children. They began their life together near Topton, Pennsylvania and later moved to the Fleetwood area. Our parents came into contact with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in 1976. Mom realized her need of the Lord and surrendered her life to Him. Mom and Dad were baptized on December 12, 1976. As she grew older, her Christian life and the Church became more and more precious to her.

Life was not always easy for Mom, but she had a sweet and helpful personality. She gave countless hours to others, and had a large circle of friends of all ages. She loved sewing and quilting. Her family and many friends treasure all the lovely things she made for us. She kept in contact with us all by phone and we all looked forward to her calls. Her grand children loved her scrapbooks.

In later years our parents spent time in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Mom made many more new friends there.

Mom is survived by Samuel, her husband of 57 years and her children: Janet and Ted Christiansen of Perrinton, Michigan; Eileen and

Stanley Smith, Fort Sumner, New Mexico; John and Cynthia Zimmerman, Fleetwood, Pennsylvania; Kenneth and Lori Zimmerman, Boyertown, Pennsylvania; Timothy and Starla Zimmerman, Mertztown, Pennsylvania; Regina and Michael Smith, Muleshoe, Texas; and daughter-in-law Danielle Zimmerman, Fleetwood , Pennsylvania. She will be greatly missed by her 23 grandchildren. Also left behind are one sister, Mary Hurst, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and one brother Ivan and Ruthie Martin, Schoeneck, Pennsylvania. Sisters-in-law, Louise and Galen Martin, Linda Martin, Janet Martin; brothers-in-law, David Horst. Also her husband's 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law, 4 brothers, 1 sister and her son Gregory.
