Catherine Louise Lenhart died peacefully at Hershey Medical Center on March 3, 2022. Born February 10, 1927 in Buck Mountain, Schuylkill county, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Bowman) Jones.
Catherine was a Graduate of Mahanoy Township High School, class of 1945. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, drawing, baking and cake decoration. Later in life she baked for Dempsey's and other restaurants in the Reading area. Her last job was at the Glockenspiel, working there until the fire and permanent closure of the restaurant.
Over the years, Catherine was a member of the Jaycee wives and Fleetwood Woman's Club. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Camp Fire Girl leader, a Fleetwood High Band Aide and an elementary school nurse's aide. Catherine was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday school secretary/ treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the church choir. She was a great babysitter and taught her grandchildren how to play many board and card games.
While living at Tarsus Manor, she enjoyed playing bingo, dice and cards with "the ladies". When she wasn't with her friends, she loved reading her kindle, word search books, sudoku puzzles and playing cards with her grandchildren.
Proceeded in death by her parents and three brothers Harry, Calvin, and Clarence Jones. Catherine is survived by her son Clarence husband of Elaine, and her daughter, Rebecca, wife of Jeff Starry and Grandchildren Chelsea Lenhart, Allison Hummel wife of Matthew, and Bradley and, Elizabeth Starry and Great-grandson Brooks Hummel.
Catherine had a green thumb and enjoyed her plants and flowers. She always had fresh flowers in her apartment because she "wanted to enjoy them while she was alive"'!
Visitation with family from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM Wednesday March 9 th followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM in the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 W. Main Street, Fleetwood. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Catherine's memory to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church 26 W. Washington St. Fleetwood, Pa.
