Catherine Louise (Deisher) Manning, of Reading, died Saturday, April 1. She was 75.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Howard "Ted" Manning. Born in Camden, NJ on January 3, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Rev. George Deisher and Mabel (Brown) Deisher.
Cathy graduated from Kingston High School in 1965. She received a BA degree in sociology from Muhlenberg College and a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University.
She was a long-time employee of Berks County Children and Youth Services, after which she put her career on pause to stay home with her children. She later resumed her career at CONCERN of Fleetwood.
Cathy was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Reading. She loved spending time with family and friends. Her cats were loved as family members. She enjoyed music and trips to Longwood Gardens. Her granddaughter was a source of great joy.
Cathy is survived by her two daughters, Jessica and Sarah, and her granddaughter, Evelyn Bierly. Jessica Manning is a music teacher at York City School District. Sarah (Manning) Bierly works as a zookeeper at the Philadelphia Zoo. She resides in Montgomery County with her husband, David B. Bierly, and their daughter.
Also surviving are her sisters, Deborah (Deisher) Lawton, wife of Harry Lawton, and Alice (Deisher) Sprague.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on April 22, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading.
