Kopfer
December 2, 1937 – July 27, 2022
Charles L. Kopfer, of Fleetwood, passed away in his residence on Wednesday July 27, 2022. He was the husband of the Harvene D. (Rahn) Kopfer, they had been married 62 years. Born on December 2, 1937 in Maidencreek Township, he was the son of the late Ludwig and Ester (Keim) Kopfer.
He worked for the former Allentown Portland Cement, retiring after 31 years. For many years he organized the cement mill's company picnic. Charles was a member of the Pike Township Sportsmen's Association, Kempton Rod & Gun Club, and the Evansville Hunting Camp.
Charles loved hobby farming, especially spending time on his tractor. His family remembers that: "He farmed just enough to stay broke." But was always a good provider to his family. He was a huge fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Jeff Gordon. An avid hunter, Charles also liked to watch and feed wildlife and spend time at his camp in Clearfield County.
He is survived by his wife Harvene, son James Kopfer companion of Bonnie Wilkinson, and daughter Doris (Kopfer) Pfennig wife of Tim Pfennig. Charles will be deeply missed by his dachshunds Mia and Gordon.
Charles was predeceased by his parents and brother Robert E. Kopfer.
A viewing will be at 11:00 AM Friday August 5th followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM from Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown.
Either flowers or a donation can be made in Charles honor to an animal rescue association such as the Animal Rescue League, Berks County Humane Society, or the World Wide Fund for Nature, also The Nature Conservancy.
