Charles H. "Pappy" Reinert, 99, of Mertztown, passed away Wednesday, January 20th at Reading Hospital Tower Health. He was the husband of the late Jean J. (Foose) Reinert, whom he had shared 74 years of marriage before her passing in 2017.

Charles was born in Rockland Township on October 15, 1921, son of the late Irvin and Ellen (Miller) Reinert.

Charles was employed at Parish Division of Dana Corporation for 32 years. After retiring, he worked on the Walter Diener Estate for 10 years. For many years, Charles and his wife Jean spent countless hours and many years building their homes and helping others with building projects. Charles continued to work, cut the lawn and enjoy gardening with his wife well into his 90's always saying, "We have to cut back on the work." The Gardens of Heaven will receive great care.

Charles was a true animal lover having many cats and dogs over the years. He will be missed by his 6 feline companions whom he loved dearly, especially his buddy, Tux.

Charles is survived by his son, Edward Reinert, husband of Lisa (Gray), Mertztown.

He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Beth Reichart, wife of Terry, Kutztown and Kurt Reinert, husband of Allison, Fleetwood.   Other survivors include 4 great-grandchildren, Kody and Emma Reichart, Briley and Quentin Reinert, 3 step great-grandchildren, Hannah, TJ, and Emma Lukenich and a great-great grandson, Ryder Ash.

Other survivors include his sister, Erma Gruber of Topton, and his brother, Harold Reinert of Kutztown as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jonathan, Esta, Helen, Mabel, Verna and Arthur.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family
