Charles Alvin Zuber, 72, of the Highlands of Wyomissing, died Saturday afternoon, September 7, 2013, in their skilled nursing unit with his loving wife at his side. Born in West Reading, July 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Lloyd G. & Arlene E. (Seyler) Zuber. Charles is survived by his wife Irene (Buffington) Zuber. They would have been married 45 years on October 11. He is also survived by his adopted son, Charles "Cory" Zuber, Sinking Spring and his extended family, Robert L. Kaler IV and his wife Donna and sons Chase, Cole, and Shane, all of Hatfield, PA. There are also three siblings. Charles was a member of the Highlandairs and the TPA. Charles was a life long member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where he was a former member of church council, property and building committee, finance committee, cantata choir, and co-chairman of the accessibility building project. Charles was a former Assistant Fire Chief and trustee for the former West Lawn Fire Co.; an EMT driver for the Western Berks Ambulance; an American Red Cross Advance Fire Aide and Emergency Care Instructor; and an American Heart Assn. CPR Instructor. He was a life member of the former Wernersville Fire Co. Charles was the retired owner of Charles A. Zuber, Inc., Fleetwood. At Charles' request, there will be no services. He will be cremated and when his wife and son passes, their ashes will be interred in Hope Cemetery, Dryville.The family wishes to thank their Highlands Family and Staff, the Highlands Skilled Nursing Staff, Pastor Marilyn Hasemann, and the Lutheran Home Care and Hospice for the love, concern and excellent care during this difficult time.
