D. Larue P. Kieffer, age 90, of Fleetwood, passed away January 6, 2014 in the Henry Health Care Center at The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of the late Ralph W. Kieffer who passed on June 11, 1999.
Born on September 22, 1923 in Palmerton, she was daughter of the late John Frederick Eisenhauer and Florence Victoria Stroup Eisenhauer.
Graduated from S. S. Palmer High School, Palmerton.
LaRue had worked at the former Palmerton Hospital for ten years now the Blue Mountain Health System, Palmerton Campus.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fleetwood where she taught Sunday School and served as an officer in the Lutheran Church Women.
A member of The Woman's Club of Fleetwood since 1950 and served as president from 1970 to 1972 as well as all other offices and chairmanships of various departments. Was a past president of the Berks County Federated Past President's Club and served on the executive board of the Berks County Federation of Women's Clubs.
Served as president of the Auxiliary of the Lutheran Home at Topton from 1979 to 1983 and its Executive Board from 1975 to 1995. A past member of Northeast Pennsylvania Synodical Board of The Lutheran Church Women as well as congregational and district boards. Also a delegate to several National Lutheran Church Women conventions and to a convention of the Lutheran Church in America.
She also volunteered for various charitable organizations, the Lutheran Home at Topton and the Lutheran Church.
LaRue is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30AM from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 117 East Arch Street, Fleetwood. A viewing will be Friday 9:30 AM to time of service. Interment will be in Lower Towamensing Cemetery, Palmerton. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Blue Mountain Health System, Development Committee, 211 N. 12th Street, Lehighton, PA 18235
