Darlene Hattie Reinert, 82, Fleetwood, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 11, surrounded by family.
Born in Oley on March 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Mary (Trievel) Smith, in Alsace Township. She was the widow of the late John H. Reinert, Jr. who passed on March 4, 2022.
A graduate of Mount Penn High School, Class of 1958, Darlene also attended night school at Reading High School to learn catering and cake decorating. She was the proprietor of the Maidencreek Cemetery in Blandon and was a member of the Pennsylvania Cemetery and Funeral Association.
An active member in her community, Darlene was a professional housekeeper for many years for several families. She was also an active member of the Reading Area Mother of Twins organization and served for many years on her church council at Zion Spies Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reading. She also continued her service to her Alma Mater, serving on the Class of 1958 Council for many years.
Darlene was a woman of many talents, interests, and abilities. She loved sewing, crafting, gardening, coloring, and reading. She participated in annual Fersommling events with her sister and mother, as well. Among other interests, Darlene was an avid fan of NASCAR, baseball, and wrestling. In her younger years, she loved to spend nights playing Pinochle with "The Gang."
When members of her family married, she loved to be the baker for the wedding cakes. It was frequently her gift to the couple, and the cakes were always amazing. She loved country music, making fastnachts, and collecting wheel horse tractors.Most of all, Darlene loved spending time at Eagles Peak campground surrounded by family.
Her family was her pride and joy. Darlene was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Debbie S. Hepner, grandson, Jason L. Reinert, granddaughter Sky Reinert, sisters Mary Stecker and Jane Hepner, and brother Melvin L. Smith, Jr. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Seidel of Fleetwood, Gloria Triest of Oley, daughter Crickett, wife of Dennis Hepner of Temple, daughter Teresa, wife of Harold Adams of Macungie, son John Reinert III of Fleetwood, daughter Benita, widow of Barry Hepner of Hamburg, Tiffany, wife of Martin Hensley of Fleetwood, and son Darren (Jake) Reinert, husband of Amy (nee Austin) of Wrightwood, CA.
Other survivors include grandchildren: Darral Reinert and his wife Trisha of Sinking Spring, Katie and her husband Andrew Folke of Germansville, PA, Michael Hepner, Rebecca and her husband Russell Adams of Germansville, PA, Harold Adams III, Raymond Adams and his wife Jennifer of Alburtis, PA, Samantha and her husband Michael Seidel of Temple, PA, John Reinert IV, Tina and her husband Virgil Braun of Robesonia, Barry Hepner and his husband Daniel Dempsey of Blandon, Alex Hepner and his wife Jessica of Hamburg, Dakota Beck of Hamburg, Veronica Heffelfinger of Fleetwood, Rochele Heffelfinger of Fleetwood, Trinity Hensley of Fleetwood, Brain Austin and his wife Leanna of Arizona, Jacob Reinert of Wrightwood, CA, and Jasmin Reinert of Wrightood, CA. She is also survived by her 23 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00PM to 8:30PM at the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A second viewing is Wednesday morning from 10:00 Am to 11:00Am followed by a funeral service. Burial will be in Maidencreek Cemetery, Blandon.
