David J. Troxell, age 64, of Fleetwood, passed away on January 21, 2016 in his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Susan M. (Urffer) Troxell with whom he celebrated 38 years of marriage on July 16, 2015.
Born on July 31, 1951 in Allentown, he was the son of the late Richard D. Troxell and Beulah E. (Lambert) Troxell.
He was a graduate of William Allen High School, Allentown.
David was a U S Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He served as a helicopter and aircraft mechanic during his tour of duty from June 1970 to July 1971. He was a member of the VFW Post in Macungie.
After the service he worked for the U S Postal Service. His passion of engines resulted in the lifelong trade as a automobile mechanic for area garages. He last worked for Dave Melner Equipment Co., Bowers. Previously he had worked for Hendricks and Sons Auto Center in Emmaus.
David was a member of Philadelphia Region Sports Car Club of America and served as a past board member. He loved racing his Formula 440 race car. His other interest was playing darts and had served a past term as league secretary at the Catholic War Veterans in Emmaus.
David is survived by his wife Susan, his daughter Stephanie G. Troxell of Robesonia and his sister Ann Louise (Troxell) Thompson of Allentown.
A memorial service will be held Saturday January 30th at 3:00 PM in the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc. 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in David's memory to either Paw's for Veteran or Pets for Vets, P. O. Box 307, Fleetwood, Pa 19522.
