IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delores L.
Wisser
June 26, 1934 – December 23, 2020
Delores Loise (Burkert) Wisser, formerly of Fleetwood and most recently of Harvey's Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 23, 2020. She was eighty-six years old.
Delores was the daughter of the late Mamie (Reinhardt) and Raymond Burkert. She was born in Reading and raised in Kempton, with many wonderful memories of her grandparents' farm. After marriage, she moved to Fleetwood, a community she loved, to raise her family. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of fifty-three years, Russell, and beloved daughter Jennifer, as well as brother Gerald Burkert. She and Russell celebrated their sixty-seventh anniversary together in heaven on Christmas Eve.
She is survived by her loving daughters Gretta (Leon) Seyler, Denise Wisser, and Andrea (Andrew) Pellegrino, as well as her cherished grandsons, Justin, Brandon, and Jordan Seyler, and Matthew, Jack, Owen, and Evan Pellegrino, as well as four great-grandchildren, Allister, Adalind, Evelyn, and Ezra Seyler. Nana was her favorite name. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Barbara Burkert, Barbara Stump, and Shirley Wisser.
Mrs. Wisser was a long-time third grade teacher at Earl Elementary School in the Boyertown District, having completed her teaching degrees after raising her four girls. She was a devoted proponent of education and always loved children and animals. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and the outdoors, hobbies she passed along to her daughters. Delores always enjoyed traveling, from camping trips with her young family, to numerous trips to Colorado and California to visit Jennifer, to a year-long cross-country trip with Russell as empty-nesters, as well as many trips to the New Jersey Shore and Outer Banks with her family, and in her later years, various trips with Denise, including a European cruise. Delores loved spending time with her grandchildren, from early years as an always-willing babysitter, to attending various sporting, music, scouting, and church events. In her later years, she loved spending time at Denise's dock, as the resident lifeguard and boat-spotter.
Delores was gifted with an ever-present kindness and peace, setting an example of calm, optimism, and strength through life's storms. She was kind to all. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fleetwood.
There will be a private graveside service on December 29, presided over by Pastor Sue Ketterer, Bethel Hill United Methodist Church, Worcester, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Delores to The Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington St. Suite 310, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481-1903 or online at https://curealz.org/
