Donald R. "Ducky" Miller, age 89, of Fleetwood, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Township. The husband of the late Nancy J. (Knoll) Miller who passed 47 days earlier on February 14th. They celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 28th.
Born on April 7, 1927, in Fleetwood the son of the late Warren L. Miller and Helen M. (Balthaser) Miller.
Donald was a graduate of Fleetwood High School. After high school he joined the U S Army serving during World War II. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood and the Huguenot Lodge No. 377, Kutztown. He had been an employed by Carpenter Technology as a foreman retiring in 1982. Donald enjoyed going to the company's retirees lunches.
Ducky had a great smile and kind sole who loved working outdoors. He had many interests which included being an avid bowler, tennis player, playing cards and bingo. In his neighborhood he was known as Mr. Fix It, no appliance was a challenge.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann Miller of Reading and his son Donald C. Miller of New York City. Also sister Nancy L. (Miller) Seidel and brothers Dr. Kenneth W. Miller of Wyomissing, Warren G. Miller of Lancaster and Barry L. Miller of Pittsburgh.
Donald was preceded in death by his sister Ethel M. (Miller) Schlegel.
A family visitation will be held 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday April 8, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 117 E. Arch Street, Fleetwood. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas Lang officiating.
