Donald R. Wesner, age 65, of Perry Township, passed peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in his residence. He was the husband of Linda Kay (Smith) Wesner. They celebrated 27 years of marriage on July 14th.
Born in Richmond Township the son of Laila A. (Adam) Wesner of Fleetwood and the late Paul L. Wesner who passed in 2004.
Donald was a graduate of Fleetwood High School class of 1969. He retired from Acme Markets after 43 years, working many years at the Kutztown market. Don enjoyed farming especially growing and selling hay and pumpkins. He received many blue ribbon best at fair awards at the Kutztown Fair and Reading Fair. He also was a driver for the area Mennonite community. Don's favorite pass time was going to auctions and listening to country music especially weekends at Alburtis Park. His other interest was hunting and looked forward to deer season.
He is survived by his wife Linda Kay and son Joseph William Wesner husband of Emily Wesner of Macungie. Joseph recently retired from the Army. Don had a brother and three sisters, Barry K. Wesner of Centerport, Helen M. (Wesner) Kutz of Kutztown, Darlene M. Wesner of Fleetwood and Carol A. (Wesner) Adams of Temple.
He was preceded in death by his brother Edwin D. Wesner in 1960.
A visitation with family and friends will be Monday May 9th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM in Trinity Bible Fellowship Church, 220 Main Street, Blandon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Rescue Mission, 645 North 6th Street, Reading, PA 19601
