Obituary

EDWARD RALPH SPIER, born to Frank and Lorraine Spier on January 28, 1956, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 16, 2018, in Fleetwood, PA. He was a jack and master of all trades, and he played many different roles during his lifetime—father, husband, son, brother, uncle, soon-to-be grandfather, electrician (of forty-six years!), mechanic, fireman, cookie monster, comedian, teacher, hippy, traveler. He is survived by his parents; his four boys, Tyler, Travis, Troy, and Toby; his three brothers, Frank, Tom, and Mark; and his three dogs, Daisy, Duke, and Luna. He is predeceased by his late wife, Nancy Spier (née Pavlichko), for whom his love was only rivaled by his passion for the electrician's breakfast of champions: a Tastykake pie, a Wawa coffee, and a cigarette. Everyone who met Ed found him to be calm, cool, and collected—always trying to defuse situations with self-deprecating humor and funny faces.

A viewing will be held Saturday July 21st from 9:00AM to11:00AM at Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc. 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood, followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM. Burial will be in Pricetown Cemetery. Although Ed was a lover of tiger lilies, memorial contributions can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 26 West 44th Street, Suite 609, New York, NY 10036 or Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 are especially welcome.
