Ellen Jane (Renninger) Machamer departed this life with a sign of faith on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the age of 85. She was the widow of Robert David Machamer, Sr., and is survived by their son, Robert David Machamer, Jr. (wife Jean), daughter Kelly Ann Arnold (husband Jim), granddaughters Eryn Nicole Williams (husband Jacob) and Ashley Jordyn Arnold, and great-granddaughter Eloise Jordyn Williams.

Ellen Jane, as Bob lovingly called his wife, was born in 1938 and grew up in Pine Grove. She was graduated at the top of her high school class and attended Pottstown School of Nursing.  Ellen worked as a paraprofessional with Intermediate Unit 13. Desiring that their children could receive a college education she worked a number of part-time jobs in retail.

Feisty and fierce; gentle and thoughtful – she was all these things, and brilliant, too – just ask her granddaughters. With her husband, she created a home in South Lebanon that welcomed all the neighborhood children. To her children, she gifted persnicketiness and a love of reading; orneriness and a love of family. For her granddaughters, she would give all. Her survivors will be sure to tell all the Ellen Jane stories to her great-granddaughter so that Eloise, too, knows from whence she came.

The family wishes to thank all those who prayed and cared for her. We praise God for the life of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Zion United Methodist Church in Iona with visitation to begin at 10:00am and the Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist in Iona, 1920 South Fifth Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042.
