Elmer E. "Sonny" Cronrath, 82, of Ruscommanor Township, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Darlene C. (Youse) Hartberger, with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage. Elmer was born in Ruscombmanor Township, the son of the late Elmer H. Cronrath, Jr., and Edith M. (Eberly) Cronrath.
A graduate of Oley Valley High School, Elmer dedicated 36 years of his life as a wire drawer at Carpenter Technology Corporation in Reading.
Elmer had a profound passion for boating and fishing, splitting his time between Millsboro, Delaware, and Ruscombmanor Township, where he enjoyed hunting and trap shooting. He held memberships in Lyons Fire Company, Fleetwood American Legion Post 625, and The Am Vets in Millsboro.
Sonny was a very loving and caring person, who had a great sense of humor and cherished the time with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife Darlene and children Sandra L. Buchert wife of Joseph Buchert, Michael D. Hartberger, and Debra L. Breneiser. Elmer will be deeply missed by his nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters Dorothy E. Oberholtzer, Ruth Ann Seyler, Joan E. Rohrbach and brother Richard E. Cronrath
Elmer was preceded in death by his daughter Georganna (Cronrath) Hunter, brother John R. Cronrath, and sister Barbara E. Fogelman.
A viewing for Elmer will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. The service honoring Elmer's life will be held privately, with his burial taking place in Hope Cemetery, Dryville.
