Esther M. Powell, age 89, formerly of Mertztown, passed away on Tuesday September 12, 2023 in Berks Heim Nursing & Rehabilitation, Leesport. She was the wife of the late Roy D. Powell, who passed on February 17, 2014.

Born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John Mehalic and Anna Pellish.

Esther was employed by Nabisco Company for many years. She taught her daughters to be strong and caring.  Family was her priority and taking care of everyone. Her house was always filled with laughter. Known for her cooking she made sure the family always gathered for holiday meals and picnics.  She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

Esther is survived by her daughters Kathleen (Powell) Smith wife of Ronald Smith, Charlotte (Powell) Sliwinski wife of John Sliwinski and Mary (Powell) Polmounter. grand children Phillip, Josh, Becky, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Robert Mehalic.

A viewing with will be Monday September 18th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a prayer service at 11:00 AM from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc. 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Burial will be at 1:30PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
