Evelyn Z. Heffner, age 92, passed peacefully on Friday; June 17, 2022, in Melbourne, Florida. She was the wife of the late Harold H. Heffner, who passed in 2006. Born in Pottsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Riland Ziegler and Laura Belle Nunemacher Ziegler.

Evelyn was a graduate of Cressona High School, Schuykill County. After high school she went to business school in Harrisburg, PA and became a secretary. She later attended Catonsville Community College, MD and received an associate degree. Evelyn worked for several companies and retired from a leasing company.

She is survived by her children Adele (Heffner), wife of David Lombardi, of Fayetteville, NC; Deborah (Heffner), wife of Joseph Murray of Richmond,VA; and, H. Craig Heffner of Ellicott City, MD. She also has two grandsons, Sean Murray and Kyle Murray.

Also surviving is a brother, Donald Ziegler, he was predeceased by his wife Laura (Kuhl), of Pine Grove, PA and a sister Darlene (Ziegler) Joyner, wife of James Joyner, of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Evelyn is survived by a sister-in-law, Anna Heffner, of Fleetwood, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

For the past 28 years, Evelyn enjoyed two homes, spending winters in Florida and summers in Maryland. Summers in Baltimore, MD allowed her to regularly attend several family reunions in PA each year. For many years she served as Secretary for the Heffner Family Reunion, meeting annually in Macungie, PA. She also enjoyed Ryland Reunions, Dreibelbis Cousins Reunions and her Cressona High School Reunions, encouraging family members to attend with her. Evelyn was an avid gardener, participating in local garden clubs. She enjoyed piano, singing and reading, inspiring others with her breadth and depth of knowledge of so many topics.

Funeral service will be Monday, June 27 ^th at 12:00 noon at Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
