Gene Russell Miller of Fleetwood, died Sunday, September 10 ^th at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.  He was the husband of Gaylia A. (Matthew) Miller; they celebrated 44 years of marriage on November 4th.  Gene was 66 years old.

Born in Reading, on July 10th, 1951, he was a son of the late Russell Miller and Anna (Hoffman) Miller

Gene graduated from Tulpehocken High School in 1969. He played soccer and was on the track and field team.

He was most recently employed by Kraft Foods, Lehigh Valley, where he worked in industrial maintenance. Gene retired in 2009 for medical reasons.

Gene's daughter, Courtney, was his pride and joy, and he was also very close to her husband Josh. He loved horse showing with his daughter. An avid outdoorsman, he went on hunting trips to Montana, Maine, and Canada. He was also active for many years in the Berks Trap League and the Lehigh Valley Trapshooters League. A Steelers fan for 40 years, he also like watching the Little League World Series. Gene always enjoyed lending his time to help others. As a young man, he was a volunteer with Walnuttown Fire Company.

Gene is survived by his wife, Gaylia, and his daughter Courtney M. (Miller) wife of Joshua M. Williams, Fleetwood. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sherry Wayne, of Sinking Spring.

A visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday the 14th of September from 10:00am to 11:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. From the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association P.O. Box 15120 Chicago, IL 60693. Due to road construction on Main Street in Fleetwood follow detour signs to the intersection of Washington Street and Richmond Street where directions will be posted.
