Obituary

Gerald L. Moyer, Sr. of Fleetwood, Pa., passed away on December 4, 2018.

Jerry was born on August 7, 1935, in Fleetwood, Pa.  He was the son of Lester Moyer and Marie (Schildt) Moyer.

Jerry graduated from Fleetwood High School in 1953 where he captained the soccer, basketball, and baseball teams.  He was part of Fleetwood's first county baseball championship and in his senior year, he was given Fleetwood's most valuable athlete award. Jerry married Sandra Anne Price, daughter of Warren and Beatrice Price in 1957.  Sandy was also a Fleetwood High School graduate.

Jerry was proud to be a veteran serving with the United States Air Force from 1952-1961.  He worked at Carpenter Technology for 30 years and coached Connie Mack baseball and soccer in the Fleetwood School District.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter Debbie Gardinier, wife of Chris Gardinier; son Mike, husband of Jen Palcz Moyer; son Doug, husband of Jen Stegmaier Moyer; and son Jerry, husband of Janeen Leeshock Moyer; He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Andrew Fella, husband of Ricky Martinez; Keegan Moyer and fiancé Hilary Kline and great grandson Brooks Moyer; Brennan Moyer and Kyle Habermann; Trent Moyer; Jessy Moyer; Shea Moyer; Mia Moyer; Max Moyer; Aidan Smith; and Leo Moyer.  He is also survived by his brother Ricky Moyer, husband of Penni Moyer, and sisters Phyllis Anderson, wife of Roger Anderson, and Eileen Wesner, husband of Rich Wesner.  He was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Gardner, wife of Donald Gardner.

Jerry and Sandy enjoyed traveling around the country. Jerry loved all things sports and was an avid Phillies and Yankees fan, and above all else loved watching his children and grandchildren playing sports. "Pop", as he was known to his children and grandchildren, was a very kind and generous man and often could be found in the stands handing out candy to all the fans.

He will be missed by "Breakfast Buddy", Ron Bauer and the crew at Dick's Gas Station: Barry Boyer, Neil Boyer and Bobby Hawkins.  A special thank-you to the family, Jen Stegmaier and all the care-givers at Home Instead Senior Care and all the Heartland Hospice nurses who worked around the clock making Pop's last days comfortable.

As per Jerry's request, in lieu of flowers or donations, please "take your wife (significant other) to dinner."
