Harold L. "Hal" Hehr, 91 of Columbia Cottages, Wyomissing formerly of Fleetwood, passed away peacefully Saturday November 24, 2018. He was the husband of Marie (Stauffer) Hehr. Born on April 29, 1927 in Fleetwood the son of the late Lloyd P. Hehr and Arline J. (Scheiry) Hehr.

Harold was a 1945 graduate of Fleetwood High School, he was on the relay team that won a  county championship. He then attended Kutztown University where he received a B. S. Degree in English Education. Harold also obtained a Master's Degree in Education from Columbia University in New York City. He began his teaching English in the East Greenville School District when he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from service, he taught English in the Kutztown School District where he met his wife, Marie and became head of the English Department there.

After Kutztown he began a career as an English Professor at Kutztown University, till his retirement.

Through his retirement, Harold still remained an active as a distance runner. He and Marie loved to travel within the United States and throughout Europe. Harold Also enjoyed singing and was in a number of musical groups, which included Reading Choral Society, Kutztown Community Choir and the Barnstormers. Along with their travels and hobbies, their favorite pastime was enjoying the company of many cats that they adopted and cared for as their own.

He was a  member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood

A visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 117 East Arch  Street, Fleetwood. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Fleetwood.
