Hilda M. Fink, age 98, of Mertztown, passed away on Monday evening April 4, 2016 in the Reading Hospital Medical Center. She was the widow of Elmer G. Fink who passed in 2001. They had been married for 65 years. During those years they had been farmers. Retiring in 1979 from their last farm on Barclay Road in Longswamp Township.
Born in Fogelsville on May 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John Miller and Martha (Wetzel) Miller. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kutztown.
Hilda was an avid quilter, spending countless hours in her home embroidering quilt squares for her church. She never missed a Phillies game, rooting them on, like no one else could.
Surviving are her daughter in law Marlene B. (Weaver) Fink and her granddaughter Angela M. Fink who was the light of her life. Hilda was preceded in death by her son Claude A. Fink in 2007, daughter Fern F. Fink, granddaughter Tammy Fink and nine sisters and five brothers.
A viewing will be Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM in St. John's Lutheran Church, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church
