Obituary

James L. Anderson, age 93 years, of Fleetwood, passed away on Friday October 12, 2012 at the Reading Hospital Medical Center.
Born on August 28, 1919 in Richmond Township, James was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Ida (Strunk) Anderson. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Peter) Anderson with whom he celebrated 73 years of marriage.
James had served in the U S Marine Corp during World War II, prior he had served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
In 1945 he was one of the founder's of the former Pinnacle Equipment Corporation Fleetwood, a manufacturer of commercial refrigeration. He was the company president when it was sold in 1980. Under new ownership he served as plant manager till his retirement in 1983.
James was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ Fleetwood. Prior to joining St. Paul's he was a member of St. Peter's UCC in Molltown were he served as church council member for eight years. He was a past Fleetwood Borough Council member for eight years. Other memberships included Fleetwood Order of Orioles, Fleetwood Fish and Games Association and Pike Township Sportsman Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting. Over the years he took many hunting trips to the western states. His vacations were spent traveling the world, with trips to Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
James is survived by his wife Mary Jane and children Roger L. Anderson of Fleetwood, Russell J. Anderson of Fleetwood and daughter Ruth M. (Anderson) Manmiller of Blandon. A sister Esther (Anderson) Bingaman of Florida
There are also nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his son David A. Anderson, who recently passed on September 2, 2012. Also a brother Lawrence R. Anderson and sister Arlene (Anderson) Miller.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:30 AM from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A viewing will be from 9:30AM to 11:30AM on Tuesday. Burial will be in Fleetwood Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 105 West Arch Street, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
