Obituary

James N. Herbein, 71, of Fleetwood, passed away on Monday December 25, 2017, surrounded by his family at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Cynthia A. (Seidel) Herbein, and they celebrated 16 years of marriage on July 4 2001

Born in Reading, he was son of the late James B. Herbein and Anna L. (Hoffman) Herbein.     Jim graduated from Fleetwood High School class of 1964. Following school he joined the U S Army serving in Germany.  After the Army he worked in his family business the former A. R. Hoffman, Inc. a building and supply company. He was the owner and manager of the business until 1998. He then worked for Eastern Industries, Kutztown till his retirement in 2007.

James was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ Fleetwood and the Horace Kieffer Post of the American Legion,Fleetwood. Jim was a board member of the Fleetwood Historical Society, a director of the Old Time Plow Boys. His hobby was model trains and American Flyer was his favorite brand, still owning the train that his parents give him 65 years ago model 314 AW. With the closing of his business he used the building to create an elaborate train display which he opened to the public every Christmas season. Surviving are his wife Cynthia, daughters Susanne H. (Herbein) wife of Michael Sundseth of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jaime L. (Herbein) wife of William J. Martin of Mohrsville; Jennifer L. (Mackiewicz) wife of Daniel Hartman of Lenhartsville and Laurie J. (Mackiewicz) wife of Arnold Smith of Emmaus. James has eight grandchildren Aeja M. Sundseth, Tessa B. Sundseth, Margaret M. Sundseth, Emily P. Martin, Joseph W. Martin, Jacob R. Hartman, Dakota L. Hoppes and Natalie A. Hoppes. Also surviving is his mother in-law Pauline A. Seidel of Mertztown.

James was preceded in death by his sisters Linda A. (Herbein) Kline and Sarah Ann Herbein.

A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A second viewing will be Friday morning from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00AM. Burial will be in Fleetwood Cemetery, Fleetwood.
