Janice M. Heist, age 75 of Fleetwood, passed away Monday September 10, 2018 in Reading Hospital Medical Center, West Reading. She was the wife of Sheldon L. Heist, they celebrated 49 years of marriage on July 19 ^th . Janice was born in West Reading, the daughter of the late John D. Spatz and Goldie M. (Bloch) Spatz.

She was a 1961 graduate of Fleetwood High School and sang on the high school choir and also on the county choir, district choir and state choir. A 1965 graduate of Kutztown University with a BS degree in elementary education and a member of college choir. She later earned a master's degree also from Kutztown University. Janice worked as a first grade teacher at the former Rockland Elementary in the Brandywine School District. She also taught at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, preschool for 27 years.

Janice was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Fleetwood where she taught Sunday School for 25 years and sang on the choir for 21 years. Also a life member of the Horace Kieffer American Legion Post 625 Fleetwood.

Janice loved doing needle point, sewing, working on puzzle books and family time. She was a huge sports fan which included her grandson's sports, Eagles and Penn State football, 76ers and Nova basketball and Phillies baseball.

Janice is survived by husband, Sheldon, and daughter's Alison L. Heist, Fleetwood and Teresa L. (Heist) wife of Steven Kiebach of Bernville. Grandsons, Joshua A. Kiebach, and girlfriend, Kaytlin A. Becker, and Riley J. Kiebach, and Brayden E. Kiebach. Sister Mary Alice Spatz of Fleetwood. Brother and sister in-law Norton Heist and Juanita T. (Torres) Heist, Fleetwood, nephews James A. Heist and Paul L. Heist husband of Bethann Heist. Step Niece Eileen Quintana and her children, Daniel and Bryce Naylor.

She was preceded in death by infant brother baby Spatz.

A viewing will be Monday morning September 17, 2018 from 9:30AM to 11:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM from the St. Paul's Lutheran Church 117 East Arch Street, Fleetwood.
