Jesse I. Reifsnyder, 91, of Fleetwood, passed away on June 27, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Schaeffer) Reifsnyder who passed in 2010.
Born on March 18, 1923, in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Joseph Ludwig and Esther (Heffner) Ludwig. He was a 1941 graduate of Fleetwood High School. After high school he joined the U S Army Air Corp and trained as a crew chief and flight engineer from 1941 to 1945. During that time in served in the China Burma and India campaign. Jesse was recalled to active duty during the Korean War.
He had worked for the former Pinnacle Equipment Corporation, Fleetwood as a sales manager, retiring after 44 years. After retirement he served as a messenger for Fleetwood School District from 1990 to 2000.
Jesse was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Fleetwood. He was one five directors for the Fleetwood Area Historical Society and volunteered many hours guiding tours and custom framing the collection of photos. His other interest was being an amateur artist who loved painting landscapes and wildlife. Jesse lived a very active life which included his daily bicycling ride and was avid hiker.
Survived by his children Linda L. (Reifsnyder) wife of Dennis Williams of New Cumberland and Timothy D. Reifsnyder husband of Joyce Reifsnyder of Reading. Also three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Other survivors include siblings Joseph Ludwig husband of Brenda Ludwig of Fleetwood and Joline (Ludwig) wife of Feryl Stein of Kutztown..
Memorial service will be Saturday July 5th at 11:00 am from St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 West Arch Street, Fleetwood. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or Fleetwood Area Historical Society, 110 West Arch Street, Fleetwood, PA 19522
