IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce M.
Hawkins
September 21, 1955 – March 1, 2024
Joyce M. Hawkins (Rentschler), 68, of Fleetwood passed away on Friday, March 1st at 1:04am in the presence of her daughter at the Atrium of Navesink in Red Bank, NJ. She succumbed to her hard-fought battle with breast cancer.
She was preceded in death by husband, John R. Hawkins and a daughter, Corie Jo Hawkins.
Born in Reading on September 21, 1955, she was the daughter of the late William Paul Rentschler, Centerport, and Mary Louise (Bagenstose) Rentschler.
She was a graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School Class of 1973.
She was a dedicated employee of Concern of Fleetwood for over 34 years. She adored her work family and the fun that they had around the office.
Joyce was always there for her daughter, Lisa and her grandchildren, Colin, Parker, and Makenna. All of Lisa's friends growing up and in her adult life quickly became part of Joyce's family so she always had many people who cared for her. She helped her daughter and son-in-law manage their neighborhood bar and restaurant, Grand Central Tap Room for almost 10-years. More recently, she enjoyed spending weekends in New Jersey with her grandchildren. She never showed up empty-handed and spoiled them with treats from the local market. Her grandchildren kept her busy and she enjoyed cheering for them on the sports field and watching them surf at the beach. During the week, she looked forward to dinner with Robbie and Tina. When she wasn't with her family, she could be found looking for 'deals and steals' on QVC or with her beloved cats, Nugget and Simon.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa M. (Hawkins), wife of Kevin Padnes, of Fair Haven, NJ and her three grandchildren, Colin Padnes (11), Parker Padnes (8) and Makenna Padnes (4).
Also surviving are brothers: Glenn, husband of Karin Rentschler, Robbinsville, NJ; Carl, husband of Sue Rentschler, Lititz, PA; Randall, husband of Joan Rentschler, Fleetwood, PA; and a sister, Gloria (Rentschler), wife of Michael Armpriester, Wernersville, PA; the beloved Hawkins family and 17 nieces and nephews.
