Joyce E. Heffner, age 81, of Kutztown, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the Reading Hospital. The wife of Arlan A. Heffner, they celebrated 59 years of marriage in April.

Born on September 29, 1931, in Cumru Township, she was the daughter of the late Raymond A. Buchalter and Katie R. (Lebo) Buchalter.

Joyce was a graduate of Mohnton High School - Class of 1949. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood. In addition, she was active in the Fleetwood Jaycees, the Fleetwood Volunteer Ladies Auxiliary, and the Fleetwood American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Her interests included reading, playing cards with friends, going to casinos and playing bingo. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband Arlan and four daughters - Rebecca E. (Heffner) Schroeder, wife of Monte Schroeder, of Greenwich Township; Nancy L. (Heffner) Miller, wife of Harold W. Miller, of Blandon; Katie E. Heffner of Fleetwood, and Mary B. (Heffner) Plucker, wife of Tony Plucker, of Blandon. Joyce is also survived by 10 grandchildren - Lynmarie (Schroeder) Hilt, Derek Schroeder, Tim Schroeder, Lisa Schroeder, Lindsay Schroeder, Gregory Miller, Stephen Miller, Colton Plucker, Alex Plucker, Sydney Plucker and 4 great grandchildren - Jacob Schroeder, Ellie Schroeder, Cole Hilt, and Chloe the Pirate Cat.

Other survivors include a sister, Doris (Buchalter) Worley, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Berks County Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Wisdom.
