Joyce S. Wyatt, age 86, of Fleetwood passed away on Friday November 23, 2012 at the Highlands in Wyomissing. She was the wife of the late Major Claron Wyatt, who passed on July 26, 1967.
Born in West Reading on September 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Daniel S. and Myrtle M. (Dengler) Shade.
She was a graduate of Fleetwood High School class of 1944 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kutztown University in 1948.
Joyce started teaching art in the Towanda School District for eight years, followed by the Central Junior High School, Lakeland Florida, next to Jacksonville, Florida as an Elementary Art Supervisor for five years. Her next position was in Chambersburg, Pa. as Elementary Art Supervisor and Art Department Chairman for sixteen years retiring in 1978.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Fleetwood. Joyce was a past board member of the Fleetwood Historical Society. For many years, she was in charge of the art exhibition at the Reading Fair. She also was a member of the Virginville Grange.
Joyce loved to travel and spent many summers traveling in Europe and Alaska.
Surviving are ten nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister Doris K. Shade, brother William J. Shade and sister Dr. Elaine S. (Shade) VandenBosch.
Services will be Saturday December 1st at 11:00Am from Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A viewing will be from 10:00Am to time of service. Burial in Fleetwood Cemetery.
