Obituary

Lawrence M. Hoch, age 85, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2024, at the Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Laureldale. He was the husband of Joan L. (Folk) Hoch, and they celebrated 64 years of marriage on October 3rd.  He was born in Reading and was the son of the late Martin and Emma (May) Hoch.

Surviving polio as a testament to his resilience, Lawrence led a life filled with love and dedication. He graduated from Fleetwood High School in 1957 and pursued further education with two years at Penn State. His professional career as a tool and die maker spanned over three decades with the former Western Electric and Lucent Technology in Reading, retiring in 2001.

Lawrence was a proud member of the 1973 Fleetwood Centennial Grizzley Guzzlers and an active participant in the community through his membership at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Fleetwood.

Lawrence, a man of meticulous nature, found solace in the great outdoors. Whether it was the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle or the serenity of the water while boating, he embraced nature. His precision was evident in every aspect of his life, from his professional career to the way he measured the trees he planted to the inch.

Lawrence's absence will be deeply felt by his beloved wife, Joan, and their children Christine J. (Hoch), wife of Randy Snyder, Henry L. Hoch, Harold L. Hoch, husband of Robin L. Hoch, and William L. Hoch. His grandchildren Tiffaney, Stephanie, Crystal, Victor, and Jessie, and his nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild will also mourn his loss. He is preceded in death by his sister, Ardel (Hoch) Berkstresser.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 3rd, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will occur at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at the Mae A.
