Leona I. Gordon, age 95, of Fleetwood, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on July 4th, 2013 in Reading Hospital Medical Center. The wife of the late Earl Kenneth Gordon, who passed on November 12, 1999.
Born on December 9, 1917, in Ruscombmanor Township. She was the daughter of the late Edwin A. Deysher and Mabel E. (Haas) Deysher.
She was a graduate of Fleetwood High School class of 1935. Leona a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Fleetwood, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years..
Leona had worked in the cafeteria of the Fleetwood Middle School for 18 years prior to her retirement. She also had worked at the former Fleetwood Shirt Corporation. During World War II she worked at the U S Army Quartermaster Depot in Fleetwood. Her hobbies included watching the Philadelphia Phillies and NASCAR racing.
Survived by her two son's Kenneth E. Gordon husband of Dorothy E. Gordon, Fleetwood and Glenn E. Gordon, husband of Lisa J. Gordon Fleetwood. Other survivors include three grandchildren Christine (Gordon) Claytor wife Keith Claytor, Steven K. Gordon husband of Marie L. Gordon and Cortney L. Gordon. Also two great grandchildren, Dylan Claytor and Shelby Claytor.
Leona was preceded in death by her son Grant E. Gordon two brothers Wayne Deysher and Edward Deysher. Also a sister, Clementine Deysher.
A family visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM followed by a memorial service at 10:30 from St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 West Arch Street, Fleetwood. Inurnment will follow at St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Fleetwood.
