Lloyd O. Hess, age 90, of Dryville, passed away on April 5, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of the late Edith A. (Schade) Hess who had passed in 1993.
Lloyd was born on May 15, 1922 in Fredericksville. Rockland Township. He was the son of the late Ambrose and Sally (Eshbach) Hess.
He was a U S Army veteran of World War II.
A member of Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, Dryville. Where he had been sexton of the church for forty years prior to his retiring. He also was in charge of Hope Cemetery, Dryville for fiftyfour years.
Lloyd also served on the zoning board of Rockland Township.
Other memberships include the Pioneer Grange in Topton, Lyons Fire Company, Fleetwood Ambulance and Pike Township Sportsman Asso.
Lloyd spent many years as a private contractor, but his favorite thing to do was working on projects in his woodworking shop.
Surviving is his companion of twenty years Verna M. Erb and his daughter Barbara L. (Hess) wife of Ronald L. Richard of Fleetwood, son Lloyd I. Hess and his wife Walburga Hess of Titusville, FL. Also five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
Other survivors are sisters Mary (Hess) Reppert of Fredericksville; June (Hess) Younker of Huffs Church; and brothers David Hess of Huffs Church and John Hess of Topton.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his infant son; sisters Martha A. "Dolly" (Hess) Fox, Ida (Hess) Weidner, brothers Lester Hess, Alfred Hess, William Hess, Nevin Hess, Calvin Hess and Robert Hess.
Memorial services will be Saturday April 13th at 11:00AM from Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Dryville. A visitation with family will be Saturday morning from 9:30AM to 11:00AM.at the church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. The family request memorial contributions be made to Lloyd O.
