Obituary

Mabel E. Blank, age 93, formerly of Fleetwood, passed away Tuesday evening March 18, 2014 in her residence at Tower Court in the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of the late Carl W. Blank, Sr. who passed on June 25, 2004.

Born on January 3, 1921 in Rockland Township. The daughter of the late Martin

B. Deysher and Clarabell Fox Deysher.

Mabel was a 1938 graduate of Fleetwood High School. She also was a 1939 graduate of the former Helen Moore Hoffman Secretrial School for Girls, Reading. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fleetwood and Order of Eastern Star Chapter #366.

She started work for the Farm Credit Administration from 1939 to 1943. Office of Price Administration from 1944 to 1945. In 1945 to 1951 she was secretary to J. Wallace Luckenbill manager of Fleetwood Embroidery Mills. In 1947 Mr. Luckenbill was in charge of composing the Fleetwood Diamond Jubilee Anniversary book and Mabel was credited with typing the draft that was sent to the publisher. From 1966 to 1970 she worked as secretary for the Fleetwood Shirt Corporation. In 1970 she returned to work for Mr. Luckenbill who was the District Justice for Fleetwood, Kutztown, Lyons and Richmond Township. In 1974 Mr. Luckenbill retired and Mabel was appointed to fill the remaining years by then Governor Milton Shapp. In 1976 she ran for the district justice position and was elected to a six year term. Mabel retired in 1982.

Surviving are her children Donna L. (Blank) wife of Roland Heck of West Chester and Carl W, Blank, Jr. husband of Carol (Burgert) Blank of Sewell, NJ.. Also surviving are three grandchildren Elizabeth (Heck) wife of Michael Newman of Camp Hill, Katherine Heck) wife of Denim Weaver, Ewing Township, NJ and Jonathan Heck husband of Jessica Heck of Spangsville.. Nine grandchildren Luke Newman, Annie Newman, Madeline Newman, Maura Newman, Jack Newman, Phoebe Newman, Oliver Heck, Elliott Heck and Liam Weaver.

A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:30PM to 8:30 PM and 10:00 AM to11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 117 East Race Street, Fleetwood. A funeral service will be Monday at 11:00AM.in the church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Dryville.
