Marion R. Dasher, age 91 of Fleetwood, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011 from his earthly journey to the arms of his Lord and Savior. Husband of Virginia K. (Stein) Dasher they would have been married 71 years on August 31.
He was born June 18, 1920 in Reading the son of the late Marion R. Dasher and Katie (Ritter) Reppert.
Marion was very proud to have served in the U S Navy as a veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Missouri being involved in many missions and was on board for the Japanese surrender ceremony on September 2, 1945.
He had worked at the former Empire Steel for 25 years retiring in 1983.
Marion was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church Fleetwood.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters Susanne M. (Dasher) widow of Neal D. Schlegel and Sherlaine M. (Dasher) widow of Gerald R. Bondoch both of Reading. Also surviving are two grandsons Steven D. Schlegel and his wife Christine and Christopher M. Schlegel and his wife Rosemary both of Reading. Five grandchildren Alexander, Jillian, Amanda, Taylor and Aaron. One great great granddaughter Brooke. Other survivors include a brother William Reppert of Spring Hill, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his sister Anna (Dasher) Moatz.
Funeral services will be Monday August 8th at 11:00AM from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Burial will be in St. Paul's Union Cemetery. A viewing will be Monday morning at 10:00AM to time of service.
