Obituary

Mark S. Bresler, 76, Bern Township, passed away Jan. 1, 2022.  Mark was the 4th child of the late Frederick and Edna (Stump) Bresler.  Born July 7, 1945, in Reading, Pa. He was the husband of Anita Louise (Sternbergh) Bresler.  They were married June 5, 1971, after a 3 month courtship.

Mr. Bresler was a graduate of Reading High School.  He attended one year at Kuztown University before dropping out to enter the Marine Corps.  He served one tour in Vietnam, stationed at Da Nang.  Mark was a graduate of Millersville university and taught drafting at Hamburg School District for 2 years before taking a Job at Carpenter Technology Inc. where he was employed as a machinist for 31 years.

He is predeceased by his sister Beverly Beidler, his brother John A. Bresler, and his son Daniel Q. Bresler.  Mark is survived by his brother Frederick Bresler, son George Bresler, daughter Natalie Balas, and 6 grandchildren.

Mark was a member of many groups, notably: The Wingsnappers and The Barnstormers R/C airplane clubs, the ex-Marine Pistol Club, the Mohnton Rod and Gun Club, and the Rainbow Strollers square-dance club – active in the 80s, and the local HOG Harley Davidson Riders group.

He was a devourer of information and loved the natural sciences, reading books ranging from astronomical physics to the life of caterpillars and butterflies, how to identify mushrooms, and local geology.

Mark enjoyed building and operating remote control speedboats, gliders and airplanes.  He could be found at Blue Marsh Lake flying float planes off the water and any pleasant weekend at local flying fields.  He also was an accomplished carpenter, enjoyed repairing old pocket watches, loved surf fishing at the Jersey and Delaware beaches, and was happiest while riding motorcycles, sometimes clear across the country.
