Mathilde R. Keim, 98, affectionately known as "Tillie" passed away away March 16, 2013 with family by her side. Tillie was born September 19, 1914 to the late Archibald Keller and S. Gertrude Wartzenluft of Blandon before moving to Leesport, PA with her late husband Paul E. Keim. Paul and Tillie were married 61 years until the time of his death on February 4, 1996.
From 1952-1962, she owned and operated "Tillie's Diner" where her homemade pot pie was enjoyed by many. Tillie was a wonderful cook, homemaker, wife, and mother, always going out of her way to make holidays a special time for family and friends. After raising her own two daughters, she selflessly parented two of her grandchildren. Randy Keim (Reading) and Kim (Hrezik) Manderbach (Wernersville) were raised by Tillie and Paul, at which time she also ran a greenhouse from the mid 70's to 1996. In her spare time, she'd often be found laughing around the kitchen table during long nights of Canasta and Aggravation.
Mathilde was a member of Maidencreek Church and spent her final years with Kim and Randy while residing at Phoebe Berks Healthcare Center from 2004 until the time of her death. No words can describe how grateful we were and how much we'll miss our "Mum."
In addition to Kim and Randy, Mathilde is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Etta (Keim) Hrezik (Hamburg) and Sonia (Keim) Henry, (Montana), as well as her brother Joseph E. Keller, husband of Janet (Jacobs) Keller, Blandon. Also remaining are grandchildren, John Hrezik, Bryan Henry, and Michael Henry and great grandson, Brent Henry. Tillie was predeceased by her daughter Lois Keim and brother Samuel Keller.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 1:00pm at St. John's Gernants Cemetary in Leesport, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Maidencreek Church,261 Main Street, Blandon, PA 19510
