Matthew L. Snyder

May 13, 1968 — April 11, 2026

Matthew "Matty" Lee Snyder passed peacefully surrounded by loving family on April 11, 2026 at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, PA.

Born in Reading, PA on May 13, 1968, Matty lived his whole life with family in his Moselem Springs home. After completing his education, Matty joined the workforce at ProBerco where he was employed in the day program workshop. Matty's love for his job and pride in his work kept him happy and fulfilled daily. After almost 30 years of employment, Matty retired to the adult training program where he spent his days leisurely watching movies, doing crafts, and taking day trips in the community with friends.

Matty truly lived life to the fullest. He was involved in Special Olympics for many years, participating in track and field, bowling, swimming, and skiing events. An active member of Maidencreek Church, Matty loved nothing more than singing his favorite hymns. He was always willing to help and volunteer in his community. In fact, Matty was the "boss" at Wood-to-Wonderful, helping his best friends, Doug and Louise Brown, making yo-yos, trains, and many other wooden toys for children in the community.

When it came to a party, Matty was first in line. He loved any chance to be with friends and family- laughing, singing, dancing, and stealing the spotlight. If there was karaoke, Matty was your man. While relaxing at home, Matty enjoyed watching movies, listening to music and working on his paperwork, making sure every page was filed appropriately. Most of all, Matty loved Disney- the movies, the music, the shows, and above all else, the many trips to see "Mick" in Disney World with family and friends.

Matty will be missed most by his twin brother, Mark, his best friend and partner in crime for 57 years. At home, he is survived by his "Mom and Dad," Kristen and Kevin Fisk and "siblings," Zoey and Macklen Fisk; brother, Raymond, husband of Janette (Raudenbush), of Fleetwood; and his sister-in-law, Connie Snyder, of Fleetwood. He will always be remembered with joy by his nieces, Veronica Ketay, wife of Chris, Florida; Melissa Greiss, wife of Lyle, Fleetwood, and nephew Scott Snyder, husband of Kirsten (Stone), Fleetwood. Matty is also survived by great-nieces and nephews who loved him dearly- Zachary and Aubrey Ketay; Leif, Lacey, and Lyle (II) Greiss; and Tuesday Snyder, and one great-great niece, Ophelia.

Matty is predeceased in death by his parents, Chester and Anne (Bosak) Snyder; brothers Stephen and Chester Jr; and sister, Pattianne.

A celebration of Matty's incredible life will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 12:00 p.m. at Maidencreek Church, Blandon, PA. Doors will be open at 10:00 a.m. for visitation with family. Casual dress is encouraged. Viewing and burial will be held privately by the family.

The Snyder/Fisk family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff at PSHSJ Critical Care Unit for their exceptional care, comfort, and compassion for Matty, as well as support and kindness for us, throughout his multiple hospitalizations.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maidencreek Church (maidencreekchurch.org) and Coffin-Lowry Syndrome Foundation (coffinlowry.org).
