Obituary

Matthew R. "Frog" Yourkawitch, age 47, of Fleetwood, passed away on May 17, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA.

Born November 12th, 1973 in Reading, PA, he was the son of David A. Yourkawitch and Susan M. (Hollinger) Yourkawitch of Fleetwood. He and his wife of 18 years, Michelle A. (Madenford) Yourkawitch, were married on November 23rd, 2002 in Fleetwood, PA.

Matthew was a 1991 graduate of Fleetwood High School. After high school, Matt served his country honorably in the United States Air Force stationed at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.  He served from 1992 to 1995.  He was a veteran of Desert Storm. Returning from the service, he attended Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Florida and became a certified mechanic. He was employed by Schaeffer's Harley Davidson in Orwigsburg, PA for 23 years. Known as Frog to coworkers and customers, he became the Service Manager in 2014. He was a Harley-Davidson Master of Technology and a Stihl Certified Technician. Matt was a member of the Harley Owners Group. He participated in many Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraising events.

His interests were shooting his bow, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, listening to American Rock & Roll and he was an avid gun enthusiast. He also liked Sven Goolie's black and white horror flicks on Saturday nights.

Matt was an amazing man who went above and beyond in all that he did. He would do anything for anyone – family, friends, co-workers, customers, and even complete strangers. His "can-do" attitude and determination to succeed lent itself to him being able to fix just about anything.  He loved to embellish a story and could always make someone smile and laugh with his funny and off-the-wall comments or crazy antics. Matt loved his family and supported them through all aspects of life no matter what. In addition to his immediate family, Matt loved and cared for his Harley family. He turned his love of motorcycles and riding into a career. As a dedicated employee, he always encouraged his service team to be the best that they could be and made sure his customers were always happy. He also loved his MDA families making a point to grow his hair repeatedly to help raise extra money to help find a cure. But mostly, he was a great father who loved and adored his son, Ben, whom he taught everything he knew as well as how to be a strong, respectful, and independent young man.

Matthew is survived by his wife Michelle, son Benjamin M. Yourkawitch, parents David and Susan.  Also, siblings Beth A. (Yourkawitch) wife of Brant A. Neff of Allentown, Julie M. (Yourkawitch) Wall of Fleetwood and Adam J. Yourkawitch of Bern Township. Other survivors include nieces and nephews Noah, Skye, James, Jake, and Marc. Matthew was the great grandson of Percy Einsig.

He was preceded in death by his brother David A. Yourkawitch, Jr.
