Hindenach

Maynard L. Hindenach, age 73 of Muhlenberg Township, passed away on October 5, 2017 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township. He was the husband of the late Christine A. (Herring) Hindenach who passed on October 19, 2002.
Born on December 28, 1943 in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son Maynard C. Hindenach and Catherine R. (LeVan) Hindenach.
Maynard was a graduate of Reading High School class of 1961. After high school at age 17 he enlisted in the U S Navy, after his discharge from active duty he joined the Navy Reserves. Leaving the Navy he was employed by Glidden Company, Reading for 35 years retiring in 2002. While at Glidden he was an active union member and served as a president for many years.
He loved sports and served as a PIAA official refereeing basketball games and umpiring soft ball and baseball games for over 35 years. When he stopped officiating he would attend his grandchildren's sports events and was a face on the sidelines watching his children Michael and Heather referee soccer games.
Maynard was a participant in the PA State Bowling Tournaments for over 40 years. He was a fan of Pittsburgh Steelers, Reading Royals, Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. Maynard was also a member of Reading & Berks Basketball Old Timers, Goodwill Fire Company, Daniel Boone Coin Club and Skyline Drive Corvette Club.
He is survived by his son Michael T. Hindenach husband of Mary Ann Hindenach of Hamburg and daughter Heather L. (Hindenach) wife of Michael Rusden of Glenmoore. He has four grandchildren Zane Miller, Pottsville, Chase Rusden, Glenmoore, Cole Hindenach, Hamburg and Nicole Rusden, Glenmoore. Maynard also has a sister Jean (Hindenach) wife of Bill Foust, Dushore.
A viewing will be held Thursday 12 Th of October from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by funeral services at 11:00AM, from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Reading. In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Maynard's memory to either the Berks County Humane Society, 1801 North 11 th Street, Reading, PA 19604 or the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508
