Melvin D. Weidner, age 82, of Lyon Station, passed away on Sunday March 27, 2016 in Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia. He was the husband of Erna E. (Herrmann) Weidner. They celebrated 58 years of marriage on January 16th.
Born on March 9, 1934 in Lyons Station, the son of the late Luther A. Weidner and Laura K. (Dietrich) Weidner.
He was a U S Army veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Kutztown High School.
Melvin had worked as a welder for Hale Trailer Brake and Wheel Inc., Allentown for 50 years.
For many years he was a member of the Topton American Legion Post 217, Pike Township Sportsman Association, Reading Liederkranz and Evergreen Country Club. He also served as assistant Boy Scout Leader for the New Jerusalem Troop 585 and helped coach teams for Kutztown Little League. His hobby was tinkering in his shop where he could make a tool for any job as needed. Melvin enjoyed camping and traveling especially his trips to Germany.
He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
Melvin is survived by his wife Erna and son Stieven G. Weidner husband of Faye L. (Moser) Weidner of Schwenksville. Also two grandchildren, Lindsey F. (Weidner) wife of Ryan Waltermeyer, Kristopher S. Weidner Husband of Taren Weidner and two great grandchildren Hannah Waltermeyer and Noah Waltermeyer. Also surviving is a sister Patricia A. Youse of Millsboro, DE.
