Mildred Landis Burkholder , 92 , formerly of Fleetwood, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Souderton Mennonite Home, Souderton, PA, where she resided since November 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Melvin J Burkholder on April 2, 2010.
Born in Hatfield, PA, January 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Sallie Rosenberger.
Mildred spent her life partnering with her husband in the daily operations of their beloved farm, Mel Mil Farms, retiring in 1993. She was also a Distributor for Hillestad Vitamins and was known as the "Vitamin Lady".
She was a former member of Hampden Street Mennonite Church and most recently attended Souderton Mennonite Homes Fellowship.
Mildred loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to the end. She enjoyed cooking, her flower gardens, nature and being a faithful correspondent with their many friends around the world. She also enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad but especially loved spending her summers in Alaska volunteering as a cook at Alaska Bible College. Mildred spent her life serving God and impacted many by dedicating her life to helping and serving others.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen R Burkholder, husband of Darleen, Mertztown; and Joel M Burkholder, husband of Patti, Shoemakersville; five daughters: Sharon L, wife of David Anders, Alburtis; Linda S, wife of Leonard Weaver, Palmyra; Rosemary, wife of James Halterman, Carbondale, Colorado; Brenda G, wife of Carl Miranda, Carbondale, Colorado and Rebecca M, wife of Alan Shade, Fleetwood; nine grandchildren: John Anders, Rachel Geigley, Beth Hofer, Sharon Szychowski, Melanie Stelfox, Nicholas Weaver, Natalie Schornik, Benjamin Shade and Allison Shade and 9 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Marc Rosenberger, Henry Rosenberger and James Rosenberger and three sisters, Gladys Grasse, Mary Newcomer and Sallie Harshbarger. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, William Rosenberger and two sisters, Susan Derstine and Arlene Rosenberger.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, September 16, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 117 East Arch Street; Fleetwood, with Family Visitation 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Burial will be private.
