.
Patrick Keith Murphy, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, surrounded by his family. He was born in Alexandria, LA and spent his life exploring and appreciating the natural world
He grew up in a Catholic household and attended Catholic school where he developed a strong foundation in his faith. He later married his loving wife, Linda, and together they raised 2 children, Corry and Marc. Throughout his life, Patrick was an active member of the Catholic community. He was a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of the fields where he served as Eucharistic Minister and participated in men's bible study and the holy name society. He also was heavily involved in the Cursillo movement where it was a leader for numerous Cursillo weekend retreats. In addition, he was a third-degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Annapolis, MD
As a young boy, Patrick discovered his love for the outdoors while fishing and hunting with his father and brothers. He spent his teenage years exploring his natural surrounding and eventually turned his passion into a career. Patrick earned his bachelor degree at Northwestern State University in LA, and a MS in Biology at Louisiana State University. Patrick worked as a wildlife biologist at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for over 30 years, dedicating his life to protecting and preserving our natural heritage by conducting wildlife impact statements for hydroelectric plants. He was an active member of the Wildlife Society and Anne Arundel Watershed Stewards Academy.
Patrick was also an avid fisherman and hunter, and he loved nothing more than spending time in nature. He taught his children and grandchildren how to fish, hunt, and appreciate the beauty of the world around us. He was a long-time member of the Big Buck Gun Club, where he enjoyed hunting and spending time with the many members who shared his passion for deer hunting. In his free time, Patrick enjoyed reading about nature, bird-watching, and gardening.
Patrick will be deeply missed by his wife Linda of 48 years, his sons Marc and Corry and his daughter-in-law Whitney, and his grandchildren, Victoria, Bryce, Caroline, Nathan and Matthew. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, and as a dedicated conservationist who worked hard to protect our planet.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, to honor Patrick's life.
