Perma G. Schlegel, age 94, formerly of Laureldale, passed away Wednesday May 24, 2017 in Kutztown Manor.
She was the widow of Clarence R. Schlegel who passed on July 17, 2003.
Perma was born on August 3, 1922, in Lehigh County, the daughter of the late James M. G. Acker and Edna C. S. (Kunkel) Acker.
She had worked as a assembler for Northwest Assembly, Reading for 13 years retiring in 1986.
Perma loved to travel, especially Nashville, TN and Branson, MO. She loved long walks with Clarence throughout Reading. While living at the Manor she enjoyed taking sightseeing trips and long rides with her family. These rides always included lunch.
Perma was a very loving and devoted mother who cherished her family and loved visiting with them.
She is survived by her children Richard A. Schlegel of Fleetwood. Dennis G, Schlegel of Reading and daughter in- law Kathleen Schlegel of South Heidelberg Township . There are five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Other survivors include a brother Lee Acker of Telford and a sister Beatrice (Schlegel) Golding of Reading.
Perma was preceded in death by her husband Clarence. She was preceded by her son Donald C. Schlegel in 1966 and daughter Geraldine (Schlegel) Bohn in 2015. She was preceded in death by her sisters Anna, Arlene, Minerva, Lillian, Francis, Catherine, Eleanora, Viola, Grace, Fern and her brothers Herman, Lloyd, Nevin, and Ernest.
A viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Burial will be in Pricetown Cemetery.
