Obituary

Ray H. Madenford, age 96, formerly of Ontelaunee Township, passed on March 29, 2021 in Laurel Center, Hamburg. Husband of the late Alma J. (Hoch) Madenford who passed on April 16, 2020. Ray was born in Shillington, the son of the late Charles Madenford and Estella (Eckenroth) Madenford.

Ray and his wife Alma were co-owners of Sunny Acre Farm in Kirbyville. He also had worked for the former Madenford Roofing & Siding, Fleetwood. He retired from Fleetwood Area School District working in maintenance. He was a faithful member of Becker's St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Molltown. Where he had been a member of church council and longtime cemetery board member with Alex Szoke and Clarence Weidner. Ray was a sixty plus year member of Huguenot Lodge #377,  Kutztown. Where he enjoyed making candy for Christmas and Easter, working the oyster and ham dinners, and being the coffee maker at Eastern Star meetings. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite and Rajah Temple. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and member of the Dead End Hunting Camp. His passion was for Farmall tractors especially his 1954 Farmall H. After his son Jeffery purchased a farm in Centre Township they spent years doing a total restoration transforming it into Sunny Acre Farm. His pride and joy was a zero turn lawn tractor. Ray's other hobby was oil painting and he painted hundreds of landscapes, barns and cabins.

Ray is survived by his son Jeffrey R. Madenford of Centre Township. Also two grandsons Douglas J. Madenford husband of Jessica L. (Rote) Madenford and Steven R. Madenford husband of Jessica (Wenrich) Madenford. Two great grandchildren Estella Madenford and Oscar Madenford.

He was predeceased by his wife Alma and daughter in law Barbara J. (Bauer) Madenford on August 15, 2006. Brothers Herman, Leroy, Charles, Lewis and Edward and sister Thelma, Mildred and Betty.

A viewing will be Saturday April 3rd from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at 10:30AM a Eastern Star service followed by a Masonic service. The funeral will be at 11:00 AM at the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood with Rev. Mary Ann Hamm and Deacon Linda S. Zawaski officiating. Burial will be in Becker's St. Peter's Cemetery, Molltown.  Contributions can be made in memory of Ray to either Becker's St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 265 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522 or East Penn Chapter #336, Eastern Star or Huguenot Lodge # 377 both at 18 Crystal Cave Road, Kutztown, PA 19530
