Richard J. Becker, age 67 of Fleetwood, passed away Thursday January 30, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He was the husband of Elizabeth S. (Stahler) Becker. They were married on June 14, 1969 by Rev. J. Paul Kehm.
Born on May 21, 1946 in West Reading the son of Betty R. (Shultz) Becker Homan of Fleetwood and the late Jesse T. Becker.
Richard was a 1964 graduate of Fleetwood High School. He received a bachelors degree in physical education from Penn State University in 1968. He was first employed by Methaction School District, Montgomery County from 1968 to 1970 and from 1970 to his retirement in 2003 with the Antietam School District, Mt. Penn where he taught physical education. During this time he coached Baseball and Basketball.
A member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Fleetwood.
He was an avid traveler who loved traveling with his family. For many years he was a tour guide for Roamer Tours, Reading.
A life long fan and supporter of Penn State sports, he also was a supporter of all the Phillies sports teams. For eight years he was a score keeper for Fleetwood Varsity Baseball. Richard was also a very enthusiastic outdoorsmen, who enjoyed camping and hiking the Appalachian Trail.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and daughter Lindsay Becker – Wilson, wife of Michael Wilson of Sterling, VA and son Douglas A. Becker of Fleetwood.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday February 4th at 5:00PM from St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 West Arch Street, Fleetwood. Contributions can be made to Penn State Scholarship Fund, 130 Bristol Bldg.,
