Richard A. Heffner, age 63,of Maidencreek Township, peacefully passed away on November 28, 2023, at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA. He was the husband of Bonnie L. (Strausser) Heffner.
Richard, a proud graduate of Fleetwood High School, dedicated over 30 years of his life to Deka Battery. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was a member of the Fleetwood Rod & Gun Club, contributing his time to gun shoots. He also held the esteemed title of a Juried Member of the Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsman, specializing in the craft of woodworking.
A true artisan, Richard found joy in creating intricate wooden masterpieces, from reindeer and trains to boxes. His woodworking talent was a source of pride and happiness, and he generously shared this gift with those around him.
Richard's love for the outdoors extended to fishing, hunting, and trapping. He found equal delight in antiquing with his beloved wife, Bonnie. Family was at the core of his being, and he cherished moments spent with his children, son Richie, and son Jeremiah, sharing his passions for hunting, fishing, trapping, and woodworking. Not only did he engage in meaningful conversations with his brother Kenny about antiques and discussing woodworking projects with his brother George, but Richard also dedicated many hours to enjoying shared activities with his family. He took joy in discussing guns and knives with Jeremiah, went on hunting and fishing expeditions with Richie, and attended Lilian's fish rodeos with great enthusiasm. These moments exemplify the bonds that Richard held dear, creating lasting memories that will forever be treasured by his family and friends.
Richard descendants goes back to Frederick Leaser who was hired to transport the Liberty Bell from Philadelphia to Allentown during the American Revolution.
He leaves behind a legacy of familial bonds, survived by his wife Bonnie, sons Richie and Jeremiah, granddaughter Lilian, step-daughters Janelle, Brandy, and Amy, and step-grandchildren Ty, Chase, Austin, Madelynn, Sarah, Christian, and Riley. Richard is survived by brothers Kenneth L. Heffner, George E. Heffner and sister Carol M. (Heffner) Link. Richard also cherished the memories of his late father Claude Heffner, late mother Harriet V. (Fusselman) Heffner, late brother Donald C. Heffner and Robert P. Heffner..
A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, also at Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., located at 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood, PA.
