Rubie R. Burkert, age 77, of Fleetwood passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Friday evening June 15, 2012 in her residence. She was the wife of Arlan R. Burkert, they celebrated 57 years of marriage on May 28th.
Born in East Macungie on November 9, 1934 the daughter of the late Charles and Myrl (Scheirer) Reinhard.
She was a 1953 graduate of Emmaus High School.
Rubie had worked at Caloric Corporation in Topton for 23 years retiring in 1998.
She was a member St. Paul's United Church of Christ Fleetwood.
For many years she was a active member the Fleetwood Fire Company Truck Crew. Other memberships include Fleetwood Senior Citizens and Blandon Senior Citizens. She also spent many years as a volunteer at The Lutheran Home in Topton.
Rubie is survived by her husband Arlan and brothers Roger Reinhard and Larry Reinhard both of Emmaus. Three sisters Sterna (Reinhard) Klingborg of Bethlehem, Sandra (Reinhard) Pannone of Corona,CA., and Donna (Reinhard) Derr of Kutztown. Also surviving are eleven nieces and nephews and three godchildren.
She was a loving devoted wife, sister, aunt, godmother and friend to all who knew her.
Memorial service will be Saturday June 23rd at 11:00AM.
from St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 West Arch Street, Fleetwood. A family visitation will be from 10:00AM to time of service at the church.
