Shawn D. Walb, 51, passed away Friday November 28, 2014 in his Mt. Penn home. He was the loving husband of Tina L. (Sheetz) Walb. They celebrated 25 years of marriage on April 8th.
Born in Reading, he was the son of Betty M. (Stine) Walb of Shillington.
Shawn was a 1981 graduate of Reading High School.
He was employed as the building engineer for the Madison Building in Reading for the past 27 years.
Shawn loved competitive skating. He started at the age of nine and continued for the next 30 years. He move from roller skating to inline skating and finally ice speed skating. During his competitive years he started coaching youth and introducing them to speed skating. He was a member of East Penn Speed Skating Team where he encouraged members to be competitive. As a coach he attained the status of U S Speed Skating Level 2 Coach. Two of his students Allison Baver and Kyle Carr later competed in the Olympics.
Shawn other passion was music. He was a self-taught musician learning to play piano, guitar, violin, and many other instruments. He wrote his own music and loved attending Lyons Fiddle Fests and going to Bethlehem for Music Fest.
He loved being with family and watching football.
Shawn is survived by his wife Tina and mother Betty Also surviving are brothers
Michael L. Walb of Mohrsville, Randall I. Walb of Pottsville, Kim R. Walb of Fleetwood and Kenneth S. Walb of Bethel and sister Lynae M. Walb of Reading.Other suvivors include fourteen nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be Tuesday afternoon from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Mae A.
Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Funeral service will follow
at 6:00PM.
