Shirley F. Burgert, of Fleetwood, age 88, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 in Kutztown Manor. She was wife of the late Alfred W. Burgert., who passed in 2006. She was born on January 25, 1927 in Fleetwood, the daughter of the late Thomas C. Bossler and Maude (Stiely) Bossler.
Shirley was a 1944 graduate of Fleetwood High School. She was a member of the Maidencreek Church in Blandon where she had been a choir member for over 20 years. Shirley was a past president of the Blandon Lioness Club. One of her interests was gardening and she was known as the green thumb of the family. She was consulted on when to prune shrubbery, the right time to plant and identification of plants. Shirley loved her enclosed porch where she would watch birds at their feeder and read.
Survived by her children Steven A. Burgert husband of Cathy (Adams) Burgert of New Haven, Connecticut and Ann L. (Burgert) Wentzel of Fleetwood. Also grandchildren Abby E.(Burgert) Thorell, Josh Wentzel and Micah Wentzel. Two great grandchildren Tenley M. E. Thorell and Jaxson M. Thorell.
Other survivors include a brother Craig T. Bossler of Reading.
She was preceded in death by a son, David T. Burgert and a grandson Aaron W. Burgert.
A viewing will be Friday 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:00am from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. Burial will be in Maidencreek Cemetery.
