Shirley M. Strausser, age 78, of Fleetwood, passed away August 24, 2013 in the Laurel Center, Hamburg She was the wife of George E. Strausser.
Born on June 5, 1935 in Bern Township, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. Strause and Emma R. (Roth) Strause
Shirley had worked for the former Crown Knitting Mills and Cinderella Mills, retiring after 30 years.
She was an associate member of the Schuylkill County Motorcycle Club and participated in many club road runs. Shirley loved to play bingo and going to yard sales. Wednesday's was spent at the Leesport Farmer's Market. She loved strawberries and would collect items with strawberry design on them. Naturally red was her favorite color. Family was an important part of her life and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren was always top on her list of things to do.
Surviving is her husband George and daughter Bonnie L. (Strausser) Heffner wife of Richard A. Heffner of Fleetwood. Also surviving are three grandchildren Janelle L. Fenstermacher, Brandy M. Grubb and Amy B. Beetel. Great grandchildren Ty, Chase, Austin, Madelynn and Sarah. Other survivors step grandchildren Richard J. Heffner and Jeremiah C. Heffner. Step great granddaughter Lillian
Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters Helen M. Seaman, Virgina M. Phillips and Pearl M. Rentschler.
A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Mae A Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A funeral service will Wednesday at 11:00AM. Burial will be in St. John's Gernant's Cemetery
